Yes, exactly. I went back to school -- one of those excellent community colleges -- at 38 and got my AA while working, no debt required. Then I got a job in local government and the AA only took me so far up the ladder, despite demonstrated skills and certificates. So, finally, two years ago I went back to a (state) university to get my B.S. The state school has an excellent curriculum and faculty and is affordable. I'm on my last class and will graduate at age 59. At this point, I'm researching MBA programs for working professionals as there's no reason to stop now.

Everything about this article resonates for me. Only college gives you the critical thinking skills needed to navigate this crazy world without landing in the vortex of conspiracy theories, grift, and hate that is out there waiting to suck in those vulnerable to the message. I didn't have to wait this long, but I'm proof that it's never too late!
