Bev Potter, one of my favorites here on Medium, passed along this gem a little while back.

Her article made me realize how much wisdom is left on the table because we’re not listening, don’t know the right questions, or who or what to ask. What? Yes, “what.” My sit-stand adjustable desk has been bugging me for months to interview it for Medium. Ever since it was installed. I finally relented, and took a break from work this morning to chat on the record. Sitting, of course.

GRAIN: Do you mind if I record this?

DESK: Knock yourself out. I notice you’re sitting. You do that a lot.

GRAIN: Hey, this is about you, not me. But since you ask, I can only manage three one-hour stands a day. I get tired, you know?

DESK: I think the expression “use it or lose it” applies here. You will build stamina if you stand more, not to mention all the other benefits of using me — lowered risk of obesity, heart disease,neck and
