I see your point, and I'm probably saying this from a place of privelege because writing on Medium is not how I make a living, but one thing I love about Medium as both a reader and a writer is that it is ad-free. Perhaps one can opt-in (and get affiliate earnings) or opt-out (and get only MPP earnings) of ads, but, for me, I prefer ad-free.
