I love this. I am not an evening eater but I do like to have an early dinner at 5 or 6 latest. Then I don't eat until breakfast in the morning. But I am familiar with the "put whatever is in the fridge on bread" snack growing up in an Eastern European household. We'd serve bread, cheese, and cold cuts to guests no matter what time of day they visited, unless they actually came for hot dinner, which was rare.
