I bawled through the last 2 miles of my first marathon in 2006. I still tear up almost every time, especially when I see a kid (we get Students Run LA at the LA Marathon, which is thousands of high school kids) approaching the finish line with their parents or other kids helping them get through that last mile. I think that is my version of the runner’s high as well, as I almost never feel the high as exhilaration.
