George, He may not be a buffoon but he plays one on TV, and it's working for him. I despise trump and agree with scholars that he was one of the worst, if not the worst, presidents in history. What he has going for him is an insanely strong preservation instinct. He will do or say anything for his survival, including performances like the debate, where he spews a firehose of lies too fast for anyone to refute them. There are strategies for dealing with this "Gish gallop" that Kamala is already deploying on the campaign trail and should have been the top strategy for coaching President Biden for the debate. You can't call him out on every lie but if you can debunk the obvious ones--loudly, publicly, repeatedly--the rest fall away along with his credibility. I will vote for whoever is on the Democratic presidential ticket but I sure hope it's someone that undecided and independent voters can also get behind as another 4 years of trump will be devastating.
