A week late because, well, vacation

After publishing a roundup of Medium reads from the first week of August, I formed a vague idea I might do it weekly. Every Monday, a week’s worth of delicious stories fresh off the shelf for your reading pleasure.

Then, I went on vacation and all plans and routines went to hell. Oh, it was a working vacation. Multiple shopping trips in 100+ degree heat to furnish and outfit our townhouse in Las Vegas which is part pied-à-terre for us, part hearth and home for contract professionals and travel nurses.

Even if I wasn’t at work and had fun, I had no mental energy to spare last week.

Now, we’re back in town and the laundry’s in the dryer, so I’m here to lift up a few Medium favorites from the first week of August. Here we go.
