Exactly this.

Without Medium, most of my writing would go unseen. Much of it would go unwritten. And I’m not just talking about writing on Medium about writing on Medium, which is obviously exclusively for this audience. Many of my best pieces, the stuff I’m proud of, have come because I’ve sat down to write something specifically for this platform. If I’d just been waiting for a gig or for my muse to hit me up, they never would have happened.

Exactly this. The MWC, for all the negativity about it, is what re-launched my writing with the most scary, honest, vulnerable work I've ever published. Because I feel safe here amongst just other writers.
