During a quiet moment yesterday, the anniversary of the insurrection that was ordered and egged on by TFG, I wondered about when Accountability will come for him and what that would look like. As this article aptly states, he is rich and powerful and will escape prison and perhaps even run out the clock on indictments and civil lawsuits against him. But, inevitably, there will be justice. There will be justice in how history remembers him. How long will it take before a consistent narrative of his depravity and destruction of norms and the underpinnings of democracy makes its way into history? 2 years, 20? 200? Will Karma come for him, perhaps by injecting him into a new body not as a rich, powerful white man, but as a black or brown man or woman born into abject poverty and with his rights, including to vote and, if a woman, to choose, taken away from him by wheels set in motion by him as President? Will he go to some version of a hellish afterlife to atone for his atrocities? Will he come back as a fruitfly and die, alone and unmourned, after a short life of hard labor? “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” —Dr. Martin Luther King
