Beautiful tribute, exquisitely written.

My mother died last Friday, and I spent the week with my remaining family (my brother). Mom had not been herself for the last 5-10 years with a particularly ugly form of dementia, and her passing was a blessing.

But when clearing out her condo, we found boxes and suitcases full of the best of her, reflecting her softness and her nurturing qualities, long forgotten. I brought home her recipes from when I was a child, neatly printed in her distinctive style. I mean to make them in her honor over the coming months.

I have much to unpack and will do that when I am ready.
