A classic baby-and-bathwater situation. It was not the rules and norms of polite society that were the problem--it was the patriarchal and racist rot under the fine clothes. All the pigs were wearing Chanel lipstick. Today, it would be nice to return respectful manners and dress to the world (up to the point that the dress is still practical) but without the underlying rot.
