10 Little Things Under $10 To Put More Smiles In Your Work Day

People are quitting jobs. We read about The Great Resignation every day. I gobble up serious articles about the state of the labor market, the individual souls who carry it on their aching backs, people who’ve had enough. I respect the resigners’ reasons and would never minimize their experiences. We are living in unprecedented times.

Today is Sunday, and on this seventh day I am resting. Not only am I not working, I’m not reading about work. I’m also taking time to reflect upon and be grateful for the things that make my workdays a bit happier.

This is the big, high resolution picture: I am fortunate. My colleagues are passionate; my boss is humble, supportive, and fair. My commute is short. My employer strives to be inclusive and to provide a safe environment for both customers and staff even as we are plagued with COVID. I’m fairly paid and have a tuition reimbursement benefit that has helped me get my degree.

Then there are the little pictures; the thumbnails which, taken together, would be just a few pixels in a tiny unseen corner of the big picture — little items I use at work that don’t cost very much but which boost the workday user…
